First computer?

Well basicly my li'l sister is bearly 3 years old and already wants a computer.

So, my dilema is what should she start with, a pc/win32, pc/linux or a mac?

From the technical side, i preferr getting her a laptop and put linux on it [easier to bulletproof against an 'rm -rf /'], but she thinks that macs are *cuter*, infact, the other day, she nearly shoplifted a 12" iBook <_<

Well, anyhoo, what's your opinion?

I built my sister a win32 model and its stood her in good stead. This being a celeron 600mhz now. I would prefer she used linux but it doesnt help her when she goes school and thast what they use there.

One day she'll go school and it'll be BSD. ... one day.

Man are you kidding? Wait until she is 6-7 and then get her a laptop running the Windows we will have then.

and btw, i started with linux, not windows
quite a sad story actually, i paid so much for my first pc - that i couldn't afford windows, so i had a friend burn me some redhat cds in exchange for bubble gum..

Well my sister is 14 and she has one of thise sexy iBooks 12". What can I say. I'm a fan of OSX - looks better than windows and has the pover of UNIX (just run the termninal and you'll feel like home).

If I boght my first computer now then it would be probably a mac. Thoug you sis is a bit 2 joung for it IMHO.

mt first computer was an atari, but it was for gaming, for a real first computer it was speccy (aka zx spectrum 48kb) after it an commodore amiga 500+ and I stil have those except for atari. I'm stil using amiga os, well I don't have a sister hehehehe, but my brother tought me to use all of those, I was 4 nearly 5 playing with atari n 6 with speccy, but I remember my bro didn't let me to play by myself, becuse I brake everything I touch at that time
